Egyptian Imam Calls on Persident Elect Obama to Convert to Islam or Else...

Egyptian Cleric Hassan Abu Al-Ashbal Calls on President-Elect Obama to Convert to Islam, Threatens: We Have People Who Are Eager For Death

As you may have noticed, the site has been down for several hours -- but don't worry, we have not been hacked. I was told that there was a problem with a server in Atlanta, and that I'd just have to wait, and anyway, now the problem, whatever it was, seems to have been solved.

And while we were out comes this news of an Egyptian cleric telling Obama, "aslim taslam" (أسلم تسلم‎) -- "Embrace Islam and you will be safe." This phrase is derived from Muhammad's words:

Allah 's Apostle said, " I have been ordered to fight with the people till they say, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah,' and whoever says, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah,' his life and property will be saved by me except for Islamic law, and his accounts will be with Allah, (either to punish him or to forgive him.)"

Note the clear implication that if the one to whom this call is issued does not become a Muslim, his life and property will not be safe.

There is also the question of what is to become of the person who declines the invitation to become a Muslim. Muhammad said this also:

When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. [...]

If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them.

"Egyptian Cleric Hassan Abu Al-Ashbal Calls on President-Elect Obama to Convert to Islam, and Threatens: We Have People Who are Eager to Die," from MEMRITV, November 27 (just posted), with thanks to Paul:

Following are excerpts from an address delivered by Egyptian cleric Hassan Abu Al-Ashbal, which aired on Al-Nas TV on November 27, 2008.

Hassan Abu Al-Ashbal: Let me take this opportunity to address the leader of Europe, and the leader of America, who is the leader of the world, the recently-elected Obama, who is the leader of the Byzantines – he is like the Byzantine leaders in the days of Prophet Muhammad.

My message to him is three-fold. First, I invite him to convert to Islam. This is the call of the Prophet and of Allah. Oh Obama – convert to Islam, and you will be saved. I hope that Allah will reward you twice: Once for converting to Islam, and another reward for all those who will convert in your footsteps. If you want glory – you will find it in Islam. If you want honor – you will find it in Islam. In religions other than Islam there is utter humiliation, even if you are the president of the entire world.

[...]

You, Obama, are among those who have pledged before Allah – Allah who created you, sustained you, and brought you to this position – to be a Muslim who believes that Allah is the one God, especially since you have some kind of roots in Islam. Convert to Islam, and you will be saved. All glory and honor lie in following Allah and His messenger Muhammad. Know that the true religion is the religion of Islam, and all other religions are fabricated religions, which are null and void – religions that were abrogated by the shari’a of Muhammad.

If you refuse to return to your [Islamic] origins, to the way Allah created you, withdraw your huge armies and military bases from the lands of the Muslims. Know that all your predecessors have ended up in the garbage bin of history, and that America’s black and bleak history in the land of the Muslims and the Arabs constitutes an evil omen for you, your predecessors, and your successors. Know, Obama, that America, with all its size and might, will know no peace, as long as a single Muslim child lacks food, drink, medicine, or housing. If you refuse, Obama, and insist on remaining in Muslim lands, know that Allah still plants in [Muslims] obedience to Him, and they are willing to wait for Paradise, which is closer than their own shoelaces.

Know, Obama, that in the lands of Islam, there are people who seek death, and are eager for it, even more than you and your people are eager for life – any kind of life, even a life of humiliation.

1000 Egyptian Muslims Attack Christian for Perceived Church Donation

Voice of the Copts
29 December 2008

A mob of nearly 1000 Muslims in the village of "Iraq" in Ameriya rallied and tried to attack the home of Mr. Ehab Hanna, a Copt who sold the land to the registered Coptic "Eslah" charity for the erection of a services centre, which holds a building permit since 2004.

Twelve people came to his house and tried to extract by force his signature on papers pledging the absence of any church in the village. He refused as they had no official capacity and explained to them that it was a services building and not a church.

Outside were cars waiting holding nearly 1000 people, following announcements made in the nearby mosques by a person called Aly Sharaf who was employed by a member of the Egyptian People's Assembly, that the "Copts are building a Church".

After many attempts to force him to sign the papers, the security forces arrived led by Deputy Director of Security, which caused the mob to flee.

They questioned witnesses including Mr. Hanna who then escorted them to the Ameriya Police Station, where he presented them with all valid documents and permits, which proved the legality of the building, and was, released the following day.

Two people from the Muslim mob were taken to the police station.

The building was then closed by the security authorities, its locks changed and a guarding police unit was placed in front of it.

During the investigation with Mr. Ihab Hanna, the security authorities summoned an agricultural engineer - the Ministry of Agriculture is involved in the process of licensing - who issued a forged report that the building was in violation, despite the fact that it holds a license since 2004 from the former Governor of Alexandria, which, therefore, practically cancels out the obtained license. In his report, the agricultural engineer stated that he carried out an investigation with Mr. Ihab Hanna at 7 p.m.

Astonishingly, Mr. Ihab Hanna at that time was at the Ameriya police station for questioning since 6.30 PM.

He also advised that he has never seen or spoken with this engineer. Despite the present calm conditions, the village Copts expressed fears of a repeat of the Koshh massacre, or of any attempts to inflame the Muslims, as they have received threats to burn their land and loot their property, in the event of any church being built. They also expressed concern that the authorities might remove the building. They are calling for caution on the part of the security authorities of any attempts to break out violence.

There are 150 Coptic families living in the "Iraq" village, in Amereya, every family has a plot of land from 10 acres to 50 acres, as well as a number of livestock sheds. However, there are no churches in the area, and the nearest is nearly 50 km from the village!!! It is worth noting that the permit held is for the erection of a building for social as well as religious services.

United Copts of Great Britain learned that an attack by more than 3000 Muslim extremists’ mob took place  yesterday 23/11/08. The attack has led to extensive damages to St Mary and Anba Abraam church, Ain Shams, Cairo. The building of the church, which was consecrated the same day in the morning seems to have trigged massive hostility.

To download the attack video from Copts United ( click  here

The radicalised mob could not stand the sight of the building which they called  “infidels worship house in Islamic Land” shouting “No god but Allah” and “Allah Akbar” “we will demolish the church” Events escalated from bad to worse when the number of Muslim demonstrators swelled up reaching more than 3,000 people who gathered in front of the Virgin Mary and Anba Ibraam church.

Security forces tried to disperse the protesters but they could not meet the hostile crowd which came in large numbers from different areas. The crowed attacked the church, hurled stones and burned several cars owned by Christians, and causing the injury of more than 5 people. Worshipers and several priests were trapped inside the church unable to return home because of the hostile crowd outside.

The Egyptian police did not seem to be too bothered about arresting the perpetrator of violence at the start of the riot. The police had a flimsy existence from the beginning of the attack about 5pm local time.

At 12 midnight, Cairo time the police arrested Imad Abdullah, Joseph Fuad Ramses and Yusuf Nasim all Christians. Also arrested 38 Muslim youth but soon released 30 of them “under the pretext of being minors”

United Copts of Great Britain learned that the Assistant Investigation Police Department deputy Inspector Wael Tahoon had a hand in planning and executing the attack on the church.

The history as given to us goes back to a year and a half ago, when a Christian man bought a factory and built a church on the site following obtaining the necessary permits. As soon as the permit to build the church was obtained, and before the building began it was a surprise to find a mosque is being built opposite the planned church site.

The mosque builders continued to harass the church builders throughout the period of building the church to extreme degree including urinating on the walls of the new building and threatening contractor and workers by death.

During the Morning Prayer of consecration, worshipers were surprised that Al-Nour mosque opposite the church started to broadcast Koran at 10 o’clock in the morning with loud speakers on full volume. Witnesses said that the imam of the mosque said that the Eid prayers are to start today and will continue until the day of the Feast (which is many days earlier the usual schedule). The speakers transmitted loud talk and noise in an attempt to Provoke Copts inside the church. The police were present but few in numbers.

Fanatic Muslims started to gather about 5 o’clock in the afternoon, the influx of a large number of citizens from different parts of Ain Shams, Ezbet El-Nakhl, Madinet El-Salaam, and Mataria made thye numbers well over 3000. The crowd started shouting and denouncing the building of a new church.

Slogans such as “We will demolish the church” “Islam is the solution "," Allah is greatest "," No church will be built here "... etc continued till 4:00 AM on the 24th.

The security began to arrive about 7 pm, later joined with fire trucks to disperse the demonstrators with water hoses but in vein.

A group of lawyers, including Copts Nabil Gabriel, Saeed Abdel Meseeh, Said Fayez, Ashraf Edward, and Joseph Ibrahim, director of the Egyptian Centre for Human Rights and Development were present, the centre will issue a statement about the event in late November.

Coptic Mass

Thousands of Muslims, who were angered by Copts celebrating mass in the Zagazig Diocese’s Hospitality Hall on Wednesday, December 10, gathered in the village of Kafr Farag Guirgis, in an attempt to attack the building.

Ashraf Ramelah, in a story written for Voice of the Copts, said, “The Muslim mob, which also included those from nearby villages, was armed with fire balls and gasoline bottles. The security forces had to intervene to contain the situation, closed the building and are still surrounded it.

“The more than 1300 Copts living in the village and who make up for more than 50% of the total inhabitants have no church to pray in, while the Muslims have four mosques. For over 12 years the Copts were celebrating mass in a place of around 100 square meters with no water or amenities. As the roof of that place became unsafe, they went to celebrate mass in the hall of the nearby newly built building for social services and hospitality, belonging to the Diocese of Zagazig. This angered the Muslims.”

A church deacon who was present during the incident told “Coptic News” that the people in the building did not want to leave the place and he added: “Our Coptic Church was built with the blood of martyrs, and we were ready to stay inside the building and be killed, however, we received orders from higher Church authorities to evacuate the place.”

Coptic lawyer Ashraf Edward said that it is now imperative to pass the law for the “Uniformity of the Construction of Places of Worship” which has been pending for the last sixteen years. He said that a group of Coptic lawyers and himself are now looking into the matter of this pending law from a legal perspective, and that “it is NOW time for action, and not for words.”

“It is worth noting that a similar incident happened on November 23rd when over 20,000 armed Muslims besieged 1000 Copts praying in the Church of the Virgin Mary in West Ain Shams, Cairo,” he concluded his story.

Note: Wikipedia reports that a Copt literally means an “Egyptian Christian”. Copts are not a cultural or ethnic minority but Egyptians whose ancestors embraced Christianity in the first century. The word “Coptic” was originally used in Classical Arabic to refer to Egyptians in general, but it has undergone semantic shift over the centuries to mean more specifically Egyptian Christian after the bulk of the Egyptian population converted to Islam. In modern usage, it is frequently applied to members of the Coptic Orthodox Church irrespective of ethnic origin. The Coptic Christian population in Egypt is the largest Christian community in the Middle East. Christians represent around 10-20% of a population of over 80 million Egyptians, though estimations vary. Around 90% of them belong to the native Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria. The remaining (around 800,000), are divided between the Coptic Catholic and the Coptic Protestant churches  - freecopts.net

Muslim-Christian Clashes Erupt in Egypt

The Media Line

Several people were wounded in renewed clashes between Muslims and Christians in Egypt over the past week.

Christians, also known as Copts, were on their way to a monastery to pray when children hurled stones at them, according to a report in the London-based A-Sharq Al-Awsat.

Stones were also hurled at Christians in a separate incident in the north east of the country, in Minya Al-Qamh, as Christian worshipers made their way to a building set to be transformed into a church.

Coptic sources said thousands of Muslims surrounded the building in Kafr Farag Girgis to stop the Christian gathering.

Security forces were summoned to the area to ease tension between the parties.

In Luxor, several buses carrying Christians were attacked with stones, lightly wounding the travelers.

The monastery to which they were heading announced it would close its doors to visitors in the evenings, out of concern for the visitors, following the clashes last week

Sectarian tensions are a recurring theme in Egypt. Christians make up around 10 percent of the country's 80 million inhabitants, constituting the largest Christian community in the Middle East.

Rights groups say the Copts in Egypt face discrimination and harassment from the Egyptian authorities. Copts complain of fewer rights than Muslims, and say they are refused positions of authority in some sectors of the government, the military and academia.

The relationship between the two communities is usually calm but there have been a few violent flashpoints in recent years.

Tension between Muslims and Christians throughout the Middle East tend to flare up ahead of Christmas.

Rights groups say the Egyptian government is failing to provide effective measures to eradicate sectarian violence. They say that perpetrators enjoy immunity and that the Coptic Church often pressures victims of sectarian violence not to complain so as not to ruffle the authorities' feathers.

An Attorney and his Sons Hire a Mob of Thugs to Destroy an Historical Church in Rasheed, Egypt

 The Destroyed Historic Church

An attorney of law and his two sons who are public prosecutors, accompanied by a mob of about 50 thugs attacked an historical Roman Orthodox church in Rasheed, Egypt.  The attack took place on the 19th September 2008 directly after the early morning Muslim prayers.

The attorney, Mohammed Moustafa Kamel and his sons Mohammed and Mahmoud and their mob destroyed the fences around the church and ransacked the church itself destroying invaluable icons and the remains of saints that were kept in the historic building.  The church gatekeeper, Ashraf Fahmy Abdalla was injured in the attack, and many shops owned by Christians next to the church were broken into and looted

In spite of the church being in close proximity to the local police station, there was no attempt made by the police to stop the attacks.

 Interior of church

Father Luca Assaad Awad from St Mark’s church in Rasheed, and who leads prayers in the attacked Roman Orthodox church also, says he doesn’t understand the reason for the barbaric actions taken by the attackers.  Mr. Mohammed Moustafa Kamel claims that he bought the almost 1300 year old church and the shops next to it from the previous Roman Orthodox bishop. The current Patriarch denies any knowledge of this sale.

It is worth noting that there has been an agreement between the Coptic Orthodox church and the Roman Orthodox church that the Copts may use the Roman Orthodox churches for prayers.  Hence Father Luca has been holding mass celebrations in the historic church.

Dr. Naguib Gobrail, president of the Egyptian Association for Human Rights condemned the attacks especially that the perpetrators are law professionals whose responsibility is to uphold the law and ensure justice for all citizens.  He also condemned the lack of action on the part of the police who failed to prevent this barbaric attack on a place of worship.  Dr. Gobrail wonders if the attack was on a Muslim place of worship, that we would have seen such inaction.

Muslims riot over plans for Christian church in Cairo

A riot broke out over plans to convert a building in a Cairo suburb into a Christian church on Sunday.

Muslims and Christians clashed in Mataria after worshippers arrived for a service at the site of the planned church.

One man died in Aswan on the same day during a separate riot over the police killing of a suspected criminal. It is believed he died after inhaling tear gas.

Police in Mataria intervened when large numbers of Muslims and Christians faced off over a building which the Christians want to convert into a church. The police then clashed mainly with the Muslim side, they said.

In Aswan, about 450 miles to the south, riot police used tear gas against civilians protesting that a policeman shot dead a man in the town on Saturday.

Police said the man was a wanted criminal but the man’s relatives said a police officer killed him in

error and then the police tried to cover up the incident, the sources said.

Thousands of people attended the funeral on Sunday, some chanting: ‘Illegitimate  government, unjust government.’

In both cases people threw stones and bottles at the police. Two of the policemen were injured in Aswan and two in Cairo, and the protesters damaged shop fronts in both places, they said.

In the incident in Mataria, the confrontation between Muslims and Christians was the culmination of a long-running dispute over the plan to build a church there.

Residents said Christians had come from other parts of the city for the Sunday service at the building, which is not licensed as a church, and Muslims opposed to a church gathered against them. Some chanted: ‘We’re going to knock down the church’ and shouted slogans of loyalty to Islam, witnesses said.

Relations between Egyptian Muslims and the Christian minority, estimated at up to 10 per cent of the population, are usually peaceful, but unrest breaks out from time to time over new churches, conversions and inter-confessional marriages.

Christians, Muslims Clash When Copts Open Church Opposite Mosque

Middle East Times
27 November 2008

"The cause behind the recurring attacks in the issue of building churches is the regime and I blame the government before extremists for not solving the problem," said Naguib Gobrail, a Coptic lawyer in Cairo.

SITTING ON THEIR BILL -- A unified building law for religious groups would end violence over the locations of new churches, but the bill has been stalled in parliament for 15 years, says a lawyer representing Copts. CAIRO -- Fears of growing sectarianism in Egypt were again realized this week after clashes between Christians and Muslims saw at least eight people arrested in the Ain Shams neighborhood of Cairo. Coptic Pope Shenouda III called for calm after the violence on Sunday sparked concerns that sectarianism in Egypt is gaining steam.

The incident occurred Sunday after a group of Muslim demonstrators took to the street in front of an area converted by Christians into a prayer hall. According to reports, rock throwing and the burning of two cars ensued after Christians and the Muslim protesters began to fight.

Police entered the fray and ended the violence before it spiraled out of control. But, not before religious leaders and activists began to worry that this is the beginning of more religious-based conflicts in the country that has long boasted of its religious tolerance.

The pope banned Christians from praying in the state-owned building in Cairo after the incident and "has ordered a cessation to prayers in the building belonging to the Church of [the] Virgin Mary … after confrontations between the worshippers and some of the neighborhood's residents in front of the building," Egypt's state-owned MENA news agency quoted a papal spokesman as saying.

The building in question was a former factory that had been abandoned. The church had bought the property for the prayer hall, which lies almost directly across the street from a mosque, which sparked anger among the Muslim residents.

"The cause behind the recurring attacks in the issue of building churches is the regime and I blame the government before extremists for not solving the problem," said Naguib Gobrail, a Coptic lawyer in Cairo.

Permission for churches is controversial in Egypt, where by law the president must give final say in the use of a certain space for religious purposes. Rights groups argue that because the president delegates authority in the matter to local officials, Copts have been forced to use illegal places for worship.

Many activists and rights groups have called on the government to install a unified building law for religious groups in order to end these spates of violence, but Cairo is dragging its feet, argued Gobrail.

"The unified religious building law has been stalled for over 15 years in parliament. Three parliamentary terms and nothing has happened," the lawyer said.

Many Muslims argue that it is not the idea of having Christian places of worship that bothers them, it is the manner and place where they are established. Mona, a 62-year-old mother, asked why a church is being built directly in front of a mosque.

"What is the point of that? They [Christians] know that it will create tensions among the population and this sort of in-your-face religion needs to end," she argued.

George Ishaq, a Kefaya (Enough) opposition leader and prominent Copt, said that there are a number of solutions to the ongoing problems facing the country's religious groups.

He told Middle East Times that whenever he meets a group of Copts he tells them to stop complaining about the discrimination they receive at the hands of the government and "start to move." This, Ishaq argued, is the means of creating a society that will breathe life into the stale religious dialogue that is persisting in Egypt.

"Copts and Christians need to get out there and make the country a part of their life. They cannot live separate from society like what happens in Lebanon, because that leads to tension and violence. To say that Copts are the only people under threat is to avoid the truth," he said.

"We live in a country where the government doesn't give anyone their rights, so people need to be realistic," said Ishaq.

Hossam Bahgat, the director of the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, agrees with Ishaq on one level, but says that the systemic avoidance of these issues by the government is allowing for the continued role of politics and religion to play out in a violent manner.

"Certainly, the media does exaggerate some of the instances, but the facts on the ground show that there is a real problem that is going on and because the government did nothing in the 1970s and 1980s it has allowed the conservativeness of Saudi-style Islam to take hold in Egypt," he said. "People feel threatened for whatever reason and religion gives them a reason to take their frustrations out on the other group."

Whatever the causes for the increase in violence, Bahgat and Ishaq agree on at least one thing: that the government must move quickly to begin to stem the flow of violence that is based on sectarianism.

"The government must act, but everyone must understand that this will not solve the situation quickly; it will take time and Egyptians must be willing to make the first move if the country will move forward," Bahgat says.

Hundreds of Coptics Protest Egyptian Violence

Coptics from across the nation and several countries convened outside the White House on Wednesday to protest the violence against Egyptian Christians.

WASHINGTON – Coptics from across the nation and several countries convened outside the White House on Wednesday to protest the violence against Egyptian Coptics that recently flared following knife attacks over the weekend.

Holding signs that read “Stop Burning the Churches in Egypt,” “Justice for Christians in Egypt,” “Stop Persecution of Christians in Egypt,” and “Why Copts are Considered Second Class Citizens in Egypt,” protestors circled in front of the White House as the leaders of the National American Coptic Assembly explained to onlookers the reason for the demonstration.

“There was an accident that happened about three to four days ago where some extreme Muslims started walking into the churches and stabbing the worshippers on Sunday,” said NACA’s Ehab Shafik, who spoke on behalf of the protestors as they marched.

“This has been going on for hundreds of years and the Christians have been struggling, trying to keep a peaceful and moderate co-habitation with the Muslims – our brothers,” Shafik continued. “We love the Muslims and we have not had any problems, but our rights are taken away and we cannot worship freely. That is why you see so many people mobilizing now. That is why we just want to peacefully voice our demands.”

The spokesman called the disagreement a “peaceful” one that requests for the U.S. government and the Bush administration to start to put the right amount of pressure and using the United Nation pressure to start voicing the right for Christians who live in Egypt.

Similar calls had emerged from the international Christian community earlier this week, asking for an end to the escalating violence against Christians in Egypt and an end to the “oppressive actions of the Egyptian government against its minority Christians.”

In a public statement issued Monday, the International Christian Union (ICU) said it was seeking help from the U.S. government to intervene, as the Egyptian government is the second largest recipient of U.S. aid.

“We also call upon the Egyptian government to put an end to the discrimination Copts suffer in all walks of life and to put an end to the media’s incitement against Christianity,” said Bishop Antony, the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate in Ireland, Scotland, N.E. England and Affiliated regions, in the statement.

The bishop said that latest attacks of churches in Alexandria is yet another incident of the Coptic persecution in Egypt, which has “reduced the Coptic population to second class citizens.”

Morris Sadek, NACA’s president, also said that the recent violence was only the latest incident of continual Muslim-Christian tension in the area.

“This has happened twice in the last three months in the same city,” he said. “It has manifested itself to tougher actions and more attacks and the giving of life away like this, people are killing each others on the streets as well as the churches. It is alarming that is why we deciding now to take action through this protest.”

Several more demonstration will be held on behalf of Egyptian Coptics including one in New York on Monday and a rally hosted by the Canadian Coptic Association on Apr. 29.

Ehab Samoul, 29, a protestor at the demonstration on Wednesday said, “We are here just to let the White House and government know what is going on in Egypt. We want the American government to stop the religious discrimination and I hope that they listen to our voice.”

“We are here just to let the White House and government know what is going on in Egypt,” added Samoul. “We want the American government to stop the religious discrimination and I hope that they listen to our voice.”

Islam destroy Egypt by koran

 againstracism.gifsioe.wordpress.com

Dhimmi is the Jews and Christians who do not believe in Mohammed {prophet in Islam} and deny him. This is because Allah has declared that Jews and Christians are infidels in Koran {holy book in Islam} - Al-Taubah 9: 30 -31
Over the past fourteen Hundred years Coptic Christians in Egypt endured all forms of discrimination exerted by Muslim extremists. Since the Arab invasion to Egypt in 650 AD, Copts have been always terrorized by Islamists fundamentals. Copts have compelled by Muslim leaders to relinquish their native Coptic language and adopt the Arabic one. They have been called by Al Azhar (the most prominent Islamic institution In Egypt) as infidels and rouges elements because of religion. They also have been subjected to all kind of hate crimes including, the abduction of young Coptic girls, the killing of Coptic Women and children and the destruction of their places of worship.
Over the past forty years, the government of Egypt has endorsed and fostered an environment of Islamic radicalism to recruit more Muslim fundamentals. This phenomenon played a key role to force Islam on Coptic girls and enhance the isolation of the Coptic community in Egypt. As a result of citing in the constitution that Islam is the main source of legislation in Egypt, Coptic Christians has lost the freedom of religion including the right to build churches and the right to worship in a free respect.

During the 80s and under the Mubarak administration, Islamic militants instigated several violent episodes against the Copts and western tourists, attacked, sacked and burned churches and Coptic businesses.
During the recent package of constitutional reform that took place in 2007 Mubarak did not insert any constitutional provisions that enhance the rights of Christians in Egypt. On the contrary, he kept the provision that emphasizing the role of Islam as the main source of legislation.
Verses from Qura’an which applies to Copts in Egypt as Dhimmi:
1) “Fight against those from among the people who do not believe in Allah nor the last day
Until they pay the tribute out of hand, utterly subdued” (Chapter 9, Verse 29).
On Al-Ahram weekly newspaper, 3-9 April 1997 editions, a Muslim Brotherhood group leader (Al-morshed) replied to a question if the Coptic Christians should pay jizya, or a tax, saying: “Yes, this is a part of Shari’ a”. And he conceded that: “When we have an Islamic state, the army will be the cornerstone of its defense. The soldiers in this army should belong to the same faith, so they will be sure to take the right stand against anyone trying to attack this Islam state. If we have non-Muslims in the army, and a Christian country attacks us, then Christian members of the armed forces could change their allegiance and become agents for the enemy.”
The Muslim Brotherhood group has 88 members in the Egyptian parliament.
Another Muslim brotherhood group leader (al-morshed), Ma’moun El-hedeiby, told the journalist Sameh Fawzy: “The Copts are Dhimmi”. (watani newspaper 1996).
The 1st morshed of the Muslim Brotherhood group, Hassan El-Bana, wrote in his book (El-Tab’a El-Shar’ia) on pages 280 and 394 that the Dhimmis have to be killed and Allah will double the wage for whoever fights them.
2) “Strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of God and your enemies” (Chapter 8, Verse 60).
In the Qura’an, Allah orders Muslims to terrorize non – Muslims {jihad} also in the hadith {Mohammed’s sayings} Mohammed urges Muslims to practice jihad. {Al – Bukhari vol. 4: 196}. Jihad is the struggle to spread Islam by force. According to this verse and to the hadith, Muslims attacked a Coptic church in Egypt on March 2002 during the Sunday prayers, injured more than 30 people and burned the church and 15 homes.
Also, on January 2006, Luxor police General motivated Muslims who live in Udayasaat, Luxor to kill one man and 13 years old boy and after they set fire to the local Coptic Church they destroyed and stole Coptic properties.
And in the same year, on April 2006, in Alexandria, Egypt, three Coptic churches came under attack from knife-wielding assailants during mass Friday, an innocent man was killed and tens were injured.
And last month, on April 2007, Muslims attacked the Coptic cathedral in der-mouas, Minya, four Christians were injured and the cathedral were damaged and the police refused to interfere and secure the Christian civilians.
3) “Ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them is one of them” (Chapter 5, Verse 56).
A Christian can not testify in the courts against a Muslim. No Christians is in a government leadership position except two cabinet members. There is only one Christian appointed a province governor position among thirty province governors. There are no Christians appointed as police commissioner, city manager or any of their commissioner. There is no Christian who is manager of state-controlled company or a university president or dean. Only two Christians serve as ambassadors. There are no Copts in the top 160 government positions and they are told that there is no promotion before converting into Islam.
4) “Fight and slay the pagans (Jews and Christians) wherever you find them” (Chapter 9, Verse 5).
Enclosed are some of the incidents that demonstrate the violence endured by Copts over the past 25 years:
July 1980: St. Mary church in Cairo has been burned by Islamic Militant
June, 1981: 80 Coptic Christian were slaughtered in there houses, in the vicinity of El zauia El hamra, Cairo, Egypt
July, 1981 St. Mary Church was bombed by Muslim radicals, in the vicinity of Shoubra, Cairo, Egypt. Seven people were killed in the attack.
March 1990: Rumors that Copts are using Muslim girls in a white slave trade prompts two weeks of violence in Abu Quraqa (250 kms s. of Cairo). Churches, shops, houses and cars are firebombed and two Christians are kidnapped but there are no deaths or injuries. (Note: There are constant complaints of harassment by Islamic militants during this period. This harassment includes, as noted earlier, the spreading of false rumors, extortion and violence up to and including murder, often with the tacit approval or even participation of local officials. Such incidents, short of murder, will not be noted here unless they deserve special attention.)
May 1990: Father Bishoy Hanna was killed by Muslim extremists along with his wife and five more people at his church in the province of Alexandria, Egypt.
June 1990: A Christian liquor store owner is attacked by Islamic militants with swords and chains.
1990: In Minshiat at Nassar (310 km s. of Cairo) workers repairing a Church are attacked by Islamic Militants.
September 20-22 1991: Militant Muslims commit a wave of violence against Christian churches and shops in Imbabah, a suburb of Cairo. Police refuse to take reports of many incidents and discourage future reports. Some Copts who attempt to make reports are arrested. Also, after being harassed by a Muslim customer, a Christian butcher shoots and wounds him.
March 11 1992: 3 people are killed and more injured in a gun battle between Christians and Muslims in the village of Sanbau (350 kms. of Cairo).
April 29 1992: A church is stoned in Imbabah.
May 4 1992: 11 Copts and two Muslims attempting to defend them are killed by gunmen, believed to be Islamic militants, in Sanabu. The authorities dismiss this as being part of a local “blood feud.”
October 27 1992: Four gunmen, believed to be Islamic militants, kill a Christian jeweler and his assistant.
November 1 1992: Gunmen, believed to be Islamic militants, wound 10 Copts in an attack on a bus returning to Dayrut (310 kms of Cairo) from Cairo.
December 20 1992: A Coptic weekly, Al-Watan, urges the government to stop what is called a new invasion of the schools by Islamic extremists. Headmasters are discriminating against Copts and forcing female students to wear veils. “Fanatic teachers” are also discriminating against their Coptic students. The Article notes that the government is opposed to this but is not doing enough to stop it.

January 4 1993: In two separate assaults, gunmen, believed to be Islamic militants, kill one Copt and wound another.
A Coptic church in Dayrut is firebombed.
February 23 1993: In a Reuters article, Copts complain of discrimination including: job discrimination; discrimination by government both in the awarding of scholarships and upper government jobs; an informal Muslim boycott of Copt stores; discrimination and segregation by teachers and school officials; and the removal of all reference to Copts and Christianity from many school curriculums. This has resulted in the emigration of as much as a half million in the past ten years. Although the government protects the Copts from physical threats, the Copts complain that most government action is due to the threats to the state and foreign tourists rather than any concern for the Copts.
March 1993: A report issued by the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights accuses the government of abdicating its responsibility to protect Christians from Islamic extremists. It notes that attacks occur in the sight and sometimes with the help of security and local government authorities. It further accuses the government of doing little about such incidents until it became clear that they were also a threat to “the political system and the lives of those in power.”
March 1 1993: Egypt bans from mosques “scholars preach militant thoughts” due to attacks upon tourists and Christians. (Note: the government has been engaging in increasing levels of repression against Islamic militants throughout this period. This ranges from arrests to gun battles involving hundreds of police, government troops and Islamic militants. For the most part, the details of these actions are not documented here. Also, as noted earlier, many believe that this government action is due to the threat the militants pose to the state and foreign tourists rather than any wish to protect the Copts.)
April 20 1993: A Copt school teacher is shot and wounded in Dayrut by gunmen, believed to be Islamic militants. Five Islamic militants are arrested in Aswan for planning to violently disrupt a non-Muslim festival which coincides with the Coptic Easter.
April 24 1993: Assailants, believed to be Islamic militants, attack with knives and wound two Coptic high school students.
May 19 1993: In a roundup of Islamic militants, the government seizes numerous books, cassettes and videotapes calling for violence and discrimination against the Copts.
July 22 1993: A Copt physician is shot by gunmen, believed to be Islamic militants, in Manfalout (350 km south of Cairo).
August 8 1993: Gunmen, believed to be Islamic militants, in Dayrut wound a Copt in his brother’s pharmacy.
August 24 1993: Gunmen, believed to be Islamic militants, kill a Christian student in Anboub (300 kms of Cairo).
September 21 1993: Gunmen, believed to be Islamic militants, kill a Copt schoolteacher in Dayrut.
October 20 1993: Gunmen, believed to be Islamic militants, open fire in a Christian owned pharmacy killing one and injuring two.
January 27 1994: A senior Copt police official is wounded in an attack by gunmen believed to be Islamic militants. His driver and bodyguard are killed.
April 25 1994: Egyptians are upset at an upcoming convention on minorities in the Middle East. They say that the Copts are not a minority and are an integral part of Egyptian society. They attribute the conference to foreign interference.
March 4 1994: An Islamic militant, believed to be guilty of two shooting attacks on Coptic churches in Mir (300 kms of Cairo) in the previous week, is arrested.
March 11 1994: Gunmen, believed to be Islamic militants, kill 5 including two monks outside a church in Qussiyah (300 kms of Cairo).
June 26 1994: A Coptic weekly accuses the government of working to increase the wave of bigotry, antipathy and hatred against Copts.
July 17 1994: Pope Shenouda III of the Egyptian Coptic Church in an outspoken interview complains of discrimination against Copts in Egypt. He says that Copts play little part in public life and face problems building and repairing churches. He complains that Copts have trouble obtaining voting cards from police, thus preventing many of them from voting. He also refers to Copts being killed by Islamic militants in southern Egypt and Copt houses being destroyed without compensation from the state.
September 1 1994: Islamic militants shoot dead 2 policemen guarding a Coptic church in southern Egypt. Note: In general the government actively opposes attacks by Islamic militants on Copts and prosecutes the perpetrators of these attacks to the full extent of the law. This is probably more a result the fact that the Islamic militants oppose the government than a desire to protect the Copts.

November 11 1994: Islamic militants kill 2 men in southern Egypt including a Christian government official.
November 22 1994: Suspected Islamic militants kill a Christian security guard in the southern Egyptian province of Minya.

7 August 1996: The body of a Coptic student was found in the vicinity of Abu Qurqas.
26 August 1996: Four, including three Copts, were killed in the southern village of Nazlet Roman near the town of Abu Qurqas in Minya province. One Copt was also wounded in the attack. The five were members of the newly-formed patrols encouraged by the government to help police hunt militants using nearby fields and mountains as hideouts. A total of 23 people, not all of them Copts, have been killed in attacks during August.
4 September 1996: The American Coptic Union urged the U.S. Congress to investigate the killings of Christians in Egypt and to postpone aid to Egypt until basic rights and security were secured for all citizens.
24 January 1997: A new political party, al Wasat, was launched. Its members are Copts and former members of the Muslim Brotherhood and its goal is to heal the breaches between the two religions. It is not viewed as strong or very likely to have much influence over Egyptian politics.
February 1997: The State Department=s Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 1996 reported that during 1996 at least 22 Copts were killed in upper Egypt where 30-40% of the population are Christians. There were also reports of acts of violence against Coptic Churches and Copt-owned businesses.
Government discriminatory practices against the Coptic community included: suspected statistical under representation of the size of the Christian population; anti-Christian discrimination in education; production of some Islamic television programs with anti-Christian themes; job discrimination in the police, armed forces and other agencies.
12 February 1997: Ten Coptic youth were killed in an attack on a Church in southern Egypt. The youth were attending a prayer service at the Church. Police believed the killings were orchestrated by the group Gama’a al-Islamiya, the largest of the militant Islamic organizations in the country. The Gama’a has attacked the Coptic community only sporadically, concentrating attacks on police and police informers regardless of religion, and they denied involvement in this attack.
Moslem and Christian community leaders have unanimously condemned the attacks. It was the worst attack on the Coptic community in almost a year.
Police also suspect the same gunmen in an attack which killed three Coptic Christians. They were found dead near Abu Qurqas in Minya Province.
15 March 1997: Gunmen killed 13, including nine Copts, in a predominantly Christian hamlet 300 miles south of Cairo. Though attacks on the Coptic community have increased in recent months, the overall level of violence has sharply decreased from a peak of 415 deaths in 1995 to 187 during 1996, and Islamic militants are clearly on the defensive.
Update June 1999
March 22 1997
: A total of 21 Copts were killed by Islamic extremists in February and there was a growing fear that there could be a migration of Copts from Southern Egypt because of the growing fear of attack. (AP)
April 10 1997: Copts were killed in two attacks. A total of 13 Copts were killed by Islamic militants who released a statement clarifying that the Copts had not been targeted specifically. (Facts on File)
May 3 1997: The Interior Minister said that one of the faults of the Moslem brotherhood was that they want to segregate the Copts. (BBC)
October 14 1997: Two Copts and nine police were killed by militants in the South. (NewYork Times)
November 1998: four Policemen tortured seventy Copts because of their religious affiliation, El Kosheh, Shouag Egypt.
December 2000: 20 Copts burned to death by Muslims in El Kosheh, Shouag Egypt.
January 2004: The Patmos Christian center was attacked by the Egyptian army for the ninth time and one of the employees was killed.
December 2004: Muslims attacked a private car of village priest and brought it to a total loss, destroyed and looted the goods of two pharmacies, burned down and tried to burn several Coptic houses; police turned a blind eye as usual.
January 2006: Muslim Youth Attack Copts in a Village near Luxor, Egypt.
April 2006: Muslim extremists stormed four churches in Alexandria and kill one person.
March 2007: Egyptian government destroyed the Copts’ tombs because crosses were put on top of these tombs.
5) “If anyone desires a religion other than Islam, never will it be accepted of him, and in the hereafter he will be in the ranks who have lost” (Chapter 3, Verse 85).
On April 25th, 2007, an Egyptian court has ruled that the ministry of the interior is not obliged to issue new identity documents for ten Egyptian Coptic Christians, who after having converted to Islam decided to return to their original faith, and they will remain Muslims at least on paper for the rest of their lives. The question of religious belief in Egypt often presents itself as an administrative rather than a spiritual issue given that every Egyptian has an ID card which states his or her religion. The law based on the Koran in fact forbids the faithful from passing from one religious creed to another and anyone who pronounces the “Shahada” or declaration of faith will be considered a Muslim forever.
6) “The Jews call Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouths; they but imitate what the infidels of old used to say. Allah’s curse is on them: how they are deluded away from the truth”. (Chapter 9, Verse 30).
And according to this verse, a presidential permit is required to build a new church. And the Muslim Brotherhood group has a fatwa saying: “It’s prohibited to build any new churches at all”. Source: Al-Da’wa Magazine, the 56th edition, December 1980.

  1. Egyptian1 Says:

    Yo,

What are you smoking? I actually live in Egypt and I’m Muslim and would gladly trade the rights given to me by the government for the rights of any Egyptian Christian any day. Here’s a short reply to some of your points (all of which are based on a few false premises)

    * “As a result of citing in the constitution that Islam is the main source of legislation in Egypt, Coptic Christians has lost the freedom of religion including the right to build churches and the right to worship in a free respect.”
o Although Islam is cited, very little of the Sharia is actually implemented.
o Churches are on the rise, not like you claim. For example, Christians requested in Al-Rehaab complained that there was no Church and if you go there now, you’ll find a huge Church being built right next to the entrance.
o There’s a Church about half a mile down the road and it’s very active.
o Almost all mosques are open only for prayers and are closed immediately afterwards. On the other, Churches are open 24×7
    * The Muslim Brotherhood group is hated by the government.
o A simple search on Google for the keywords: mulsim brotherhood trial egypt will give you a lot of hits on what’s currently happening
    o Here’s an example: http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/545D7E8C-C6DC-4127-B731-C12650A50AE7.htm
o So how can anything that you say about the government helping the Muslim brotherhood be taken seriously?
    * All the Quranic verses
o All of the Quranic verses that you rely on are taken out of context. Here’s one example: You said:
+ “Fight and slay the pagans (Jews and Christians) wherever you find them” (Chapter 9, Verse 5).
    # This verse as well as others is grossly taken out of context. Refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_military_jurisprudence#_note-24 to understand the context Here’s an even more thorough response: http://eteraz.wordpress.com/2006/07/21/the-slayer-verse-95/

The above should suffice to show that little actual research was used in the article. It would be much more fruitful to engage in a meaningful discussion than to simply make accusatory remarks that are based on personal interpretations. This is not to say that the Egyptian government hasn’t persecuted some Christians. But, what you fail to mention is that it has persecuted 100x as many Muslims. Visit any prison / detention count and count the number of Muslims being held without trial to the number of Christians. I’m sure you’ll find it much less than 8:100 (the Christian population is about 8% of Egypt’s population)

  2. Steiner Says:

    To Egyptian1,

You would gladly trade…? will the egyptian government allow you to expressly change your religious identity from muslim to christian? If no, do you think it to be fair and why?

If the answere is NO, then the implications here are that those muslims that convert to christianity are not recognised as converts by the state; yet those christians that convert to Islam are recognized. How would this helps things on handing out church permits?

Consequently, state official figures on population percentages for Christians will conveniently reflect a low score. How will this help out in giving out church permits?

Hence, person like you comes on the scene and informs us foreigners that there are very few christians…8%..when in fact it may be up to 20% or more, for all we know.

Same thing with those in jail. If a muslim converts to Christianity, he is put in jail as a muslim (for converting to Christianity). The state conveniently reports it as a muslim who is in jail…when in fact it is a manner of persecuting Christians.

Now regarding those permits…do Christians go through the same process to do repairs or obtain a permit to build a church, in the same way muslims do, to repair or build a mosque?…

Regarding the Muslim Brotherhood…would they give Christians more freedoms?…or are they closer to Osama in their ideology…do they wish to impose sharia law ?

Regarding the Muslim Brotherhood…what do they think of the Bahai faith? would they continue to persecute these muslims, as the government does now?

Actually, what do you think of the Bahai faith? in your opinion are they muslim? and what sort of muslim are you?

  3. joe Says:

Egyptian - next you’ll be telling us Islam is the religion of peace.

  4. Magnus Nielsen Says:

In answer to Egyptian, and all Muslim apologists, I can recommend Ibn Ishaq’s ‘Life of the Prophet Muhammad’ as general background and context to the Quran. You can get a good modern translation edited by Michael Edwardes and published by the Folio Society. It is available on Amazon and costs about £10.

Ibn Ishaq wrote about 750AD, therefore this is the earliest (and the best) account of Muhammad’s life and deeds. It describes how Allah gave Muhammad ‘permission to plunder’and his various massacres of Jews and others.

It is an excellent and informative read.

  5. Steve (Brussels) Says:

    Egyptian 1

I do not know of any religion that has been slaughtering so many “unbelievers” as the islamists have done over the years and are still doing today.

Islam apostates constantly warn us that the west is overly tolerant for the murderous dictatorship that islam is. And those people all risk their live for daring to open their mouth.

Wherever there are muslims there is guaranteed trouble, hate, intolerance, violence and murder.

Claiming that your religion is a religion of peace is the greatest fallacy that humanity had to endure for over 1400 years.

The muslim way of thinking and acting is clear: Convert or kill because those people who keep denying that Islam is a religion of peace need to be slaughtered. Is that the way you people will get into Allah’s paradise ? What a disgusting ideology !

  6. ares Says:

Don’t destroy Europe. Listen to the copts, they have the experience with islam. I talked with a guy who used to live in arabic countries. I told him about the cartoon crisis. He laughed and said: “Mohammed crisis existed since the prophet pretender started his “career”. Christians and jews have been killed ever since.”

  7. Andrew (USA) Says:

    To Egyptian1,

Mr. Morris Sadek’s article list ONLY 6 Quranic verses about killing. Only 1 of which you try to defend by claming the same old “out of context” excuse. I went to the link you provided and there is NO context for that passage, its not even mentioned.

Other than the fact that Muslims haven’t killed every non-Muslim under their domain, there is very little else that you can point to as proof that Islam is a peaceful, tolerant religion.

Whos smoking what? See if you can put down your hash pipe long enough to put these passages into a “peaceful” context for us. And when your finished explaining these. I’ll send you more……

Tabari IX:69 “Killing disbelievers is a small matter to us.”

Qur’an 8:59 “The infidels should not think that they can get away from us. Prepare against them whatever arms and weaponry you can muster so that you may terrorize them.”

Tabari VIII:141 “The battle cry of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah that night was: ‘Kill! Kill! Kill!’”

Qur’an 9:71 “O Prophet, strive hard [fighting] against the unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be harsh with them. Their abode is Hell, an evil refuge indeed.”

Bukhari:V5B59N512 “The Prophet had their men killed, their woman and children taken captive.”

Bukhari:V4B52N220 “Allah’s Apostle said, ‘I have been made victorious with terror.’”

Qur’an:8:12 “I shall terrorize the infidels. So wound their bodies and incapacitate them because they oppose Allah and His Apostle.”

Ishaq:489 “Do the bastards think that we are not their equal in fighting? We are men who think that there is no shame in killing.”

Qur’an 2:191 “And kill them wherever you find and catch them. Drive them out from where they have turned you out; for Al-Fitnah (polytheism, disbelief, oppression) is worse than slaughter.”

Qur’an:8:57 “If you gain mastery over them in battle, inflict such a defeat as would terrorize them, so that they would learn a lesson and be warned.”

Ishaq:327 “Allah said, ‘A prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the ransom captives would bring. But Allah desires killing them to manifest the religion.’”

Ishaq:326 “If you come upon them, deal so forcibly as to terrify those who would follow, that they may be warned. Make a severe example of them by terrorizing Allah’s enemies.”

Qur’an:8:67 “It is not fitting for any prophet to have prisoners until he has made a great slaughter in the land.”

Ishaq:588 “When the Apostle descends on your land none of your people will be left when he leaves.”

Ishaq:326 “Allah said, ‘No Prophet before Muhammad took booty from his enemy nor prisoners for ransom.’ Muhammad said, ‘I was made victorious with terror. The earth was made a place for me to clean. I was given the most powerful words. Booty was made lawful for me. I was given the power to intercede. These five privileges were awarded to no prophet before me.’”

Tabari VII:97 “The morning after the murder of Ashraf, the Prophet declared, ‘Kill any Jew who falls under your power.’”

Ishaq:510 “When the Apostle looked down on Khaybar he told his Companions, ‘O Allah, Lord of the Devils and what into terror they throw, and Lord of the winds and what they winnow, we ask Thee for the booty of this town and its people. Forward in the name of Allah.’ He used to say this of every town he raided.”

Qur’an:33:26 “Allah made the Jews leave their homes by terrorizing them so that you killed some and made many captive. And He made you inherit their lands, their homes, and their wealth. He gave you a country you had not traversed before.”

Qur’an 60:4 “We reject you. Hostility and hate have come between us forever, unless you believe in Allah only.’”

Qur’an 48:13 “If any believe not in Allah and His Messenger, We have prepared a Blazing Fire for them!”

Qur’an 48:28 “It is He Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the Religion of Truth (Islam), that he may make it superior to every other religion, exalting it over them. Allah is a sufficient Witness. Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah. Those who are with him are severe with Infidel unbelievers.”

Qur’an 9:30 “The Jews call Uzair (Ezra) the son of Allah, and the Christians say that the Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying from their mouths; they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah’s (Himself) fights against them, cursing them, damning and destroying them. How perverse are they!”

Qur’an:33:22 “The Believers said: ‘This is what Allah and his Messenger promised us.’ It added to their faith, obedience, and submission. Among the Believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah and have gone out for Jihad (holy fighting). Some have completed their vow to extreme (and have been martyred) fighting and dying in His Cause, and some are waiting, prepared for death in battle.”

Egyptian 1 is clearly smoking too much of the denial drug. The whole sane world is now fully clocked on to the muslim ‘methods’. He’ll probably even claim that http://www.religionofpeace.com is an infidel conspiracy.

Steve (Brussels) describes you and your murderous soldiers of allah quite succinctly.

The muslim way of thinking and acting is clear: Convert or kill because those people who keep denying that Islam is a religion of peace need to be slaughtered. Is that the way you people will get into Allah’s paradise? What a disgusting ideology!

One of the latest massacres happened in Lebanon, where chistians were literally butchered by muslim troops in the so called civil war. It was rather (and again) a war of muslims  against non-believers.

The ‘free’ press in Europe ‘forgot’ to report the killings of palestinians, but were very quick when christians finally fought back and/or the Israel army invaded some of these ‘poor palestinian camps’.

Brother Kills A Terrorist in Search for Kidnapped Sister

An Egyptian Christian man angry at his kidnapped sister killed a Muslim terrorist. Mariam Khillah, was kidnapped, raped, and forcibly converted to Islam approximately 15 month ago by a terrorist, Ahmed Saleh. Since Mariam has disappeared, the family never stopped searching for her return. According to our souses, the policy has mistreated, and beaten the family when reported the disappearance of the daughter. The search for Mariam led to locate the place where she kept away from her family. As a result, the family tried very hard to convince the perpetrator for peaceful settlement, but attempts fail. Eventually, and according to the untrusted Police information, Ramy, brother of Mariam, broke into her Cairo hidden place and sprayed gunfire on the terrorist Ahmed Saleh.
The official reports were full of lies. The police accused the Coptic Egyptian family of killing "an Egyptian Muslim". More, falsely claimed that Marian converted to Islam without any pressure, and totally ignored the kidnapping, and raping of Mariam by the terrorist, Ahmed Saleh.
This incident showed the role of the police in kidnapping, raping, and force conversion on more than 50,000 Coptic Christian girls, and women, on the last 25 years.
The American Coptic Union is calling upon US Government, Congress, and Human Rights Organization investigate all the crimes against humanity by the Arab Islamic regime in Egypt, and allow the immediate return of kidnapped girls, and women to their families.

“Why Do the Copts of Egypt Fear Fridays?”

On 17 May, 2007, while glancing at the website of the online daily, Elaph, I noticed a very intriguing title of an article on the plight of the Christian community in Egypt: “Why Do the Copts of Egypt Fear Fridays?” The writer, himself an Egyptian now living in France, gave a realistic explanation that should stir our thoughts, and make us fully aware of the suffering of this brave minority. I share with the readers of FFI excerpts from the article, and follow with my analysis and comments.

“Islamists have taken upon themselves the responsibility to stoke the fires of religious discord and civil strife whenever they had been extinguished. The result is that Egypt becomes the victim, and both Muslims and Christians end up being the losers. It is quite evident that Islamists don’t want the attacks against the Copts to stop.

“The last attack on the Copts took place on Friday, 11 April, 2007, in the village of Behma, of the El-‘Ayat Township, in El-Giza Province. Rumors had spread that Christians were about to make an addition to their church building. Five hundred Islamists gathered, and attacked Christians in their homes and places of business. They shouted Allahu Akbar, as they embarked on their new ghazwa (conquest), resulting in the torching of 27 homes and places of business. They proceeded to loot the contents of the shops, taking all they could find of precious metals and jewelry. After all, why not engage in the plunder, having been assured by the Islamists’ fatwas that the Christians’ possessions were legitimate war booty?! Thankfully, they stopped at that point, and did not take Christian women captives as a prize of their ugly ghazwa; however, many Christians in that village were injured.

Why Afraid of Fridays?

“When I was in Zurich, Switzerland, attending the “Conference on the Plight of Women and Minorities in the Middle East and North Africa,”* an Egyptian Coptic correspondent told me, ‘We Copts, worry about our own safety and possessions on Fridays, can you tell me why?’ I answered her, ‘Certainly, you must know that the Islamist virus has been spreading in Egypt, in our media, in our educational institutions, and in the Friday sermons at the mosques. Islamists have altered the very nature of the Friday sermons, changing them from messages on religious and moral issues that are meant to ennoble human beings by elevating their souls toward their Creator, and enabling them to become tolerant in their relations with their fellow human beings. On the contrary, the Friday sermons have become lessons in hatred and envy of the ‘Other’ declaring him to be a Kafir, and calling for war against the ‘children of apes and pigs,’ i.e. Christians and Jews. Thus when a Muslim leaves the mosque he has become like a time-bomb, ready to explode on any Christian he encounters on his way. This is why the Friday sermon has become a very dangerous matter.

“I don’t know why we have never seen a Christian, who leaves his church on Sundays, goes ahead and sets fire to a Muslim house, or assaults a Muslim and kills him! I cannot understand why anyone who kills a Copt and burns his possessions nowadays is regarded as mentally ill! Actually, Islamists have succeeded in employing religion for their political goals. In my discussion with a historian of contemporary Egyptian history, he told me, ‘The Muslim Brothers (al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun) regard Copts as an easy prey; so whenever the government arrests one of their members, they attack a church, or the Christian population. These acts come to the attention of the world public opinion, causing the Egyptian government to stop persecuting the Ikhwan. In other words, Islamists use the Copts as a means to get their members released from prison!’

“Whenever attacks on Christians take place, the Egyptian police seem to be absent! And when they finally appear at the scene, it is too late. By then the Islamists would have attacked Christians, beaten them, and robbed them of their goods. I remember when I was in Muharram Beik, Alexandria, a Muslim told me, not realizing that I was a writer, that a policeman who guarded a church building told the attackers, ‘go ahead and attack the church, but only from its back door; then, I won’t interfere with your act!’

“The Islamist International**
, under the leadership of Yousef al-Qaradawi, Rashed
Al-Ghanoushi, and Fahmi Houweidi,
issued fatwas allowing for the murder of women, children, and the unborn, in Israel. But they have been silent about the killing of civilian Muslims in Morocco and Algeria, and equally silent about attacks on our Coptic brothers. These attacks receive the silent assent of the Islamist fuqaha who approve the killing of innocent Muslims and peaceful Christians, as long as the murderers are Islamists like themselves!

Analysis

The writer of the article draws the attention of the wide readership of Elaph to this unbelievable state of affairs in Egypt, where Copts fear the advent of every Friday. This sixth day of the week has become the occasion for attacks on their persons, homes and property; almost immediately after the worshippers leave the mosques!
